Log Term Plans

As I’m sure you can tell, this business is a one man operation, unless you count my dog Thad. I’ve never owned a business. I’ve never developed a website. I’ve never filed for an LLC. Here I am doing a lot of firsts. I’m doing all these firsts so I can do other things that I’ve done thousands of times. Write workouts, encourages client to do one more rep, or develop relationships based on achieving our fitness goals. All things I’ve done for years.

Now, I’m writing a blog for the first time. I want to post a short blog here from time to time to give my clients an idea of what my long term goals are. Today, I just want to explain how I expect to grow the gym and what you might expect for future session to look like.

As of today, I train out of a small home gym that is roughly 250 square feet. I use commercial grade equipment, but the equipment is all designed with a compact footprint and multiple exercise utilization in mind. While I can workout my clients effectively in this environment, it does create some limitations. The number one limitation is square footage limiting my equipment variety. With that in mind, I intend to move the gym into our garage. We have plans to epoxy the garage floor, paint, hang mirrors, hang hex lights, and install HVAC in the garage. All funds from the business are being set aside to do this build out in the next year or so. This would give me roughly 450 square feet and allow room for some more specialty equipment.

This specialty equipment would include some gym staples like a leg press machine, leg extension/leg curl, T-bar row, seated preacher curl, and other equipment you may not commonly see. It’s not that these are necessary, but they can allow for more modality option in the sessions and target specific muscle group more effectively. I would also have room for some cardio equipment that I would allow clients to use before or after their sessions, assuming that this doesn’t interrupt other clients sessions. Of course all of the purchased equipment will continue to be commercial grade as my clients safety is a top priority.

Looking even further ahead, I would eventually like to expand to a small commercial space so that I could expand my offering to have training and memberships. I would like to focus on unique equipment like the arsenal Forge-X/Reloaded series. This would offer the area a unique gym that has equipment you wouldn’t see at the large gyms here in gilbert and hopefully foster a community of members that want to try something new and are willing to help newer members.

But I’m getting way ahead of myself at this point. Right now I’m just hoping to continue the business growth I have right now and continue to develop more relationships with more clients. I hope this give everyone a quick glimpse into my long terms plans and lets you see a snippet of my thinking.
